This is one of my favourite rosary designs.
Crafted with Aves (Hail Mary beads) of 6mm purple banded agate gemstone and Paters (Our Father beads) of 8mm Sparkling Swarovski crystal bicones. The Tau cross is pewter (lead & nickel free) and measures 4cm by 2.75cm. The center medal (1.5cm by 1.5cm) is a triangular pewter Chi Rho.
The Tau cross is named after the last letter in the Hebrew alphabet and resembles the letter T. It is a very ancient symbol representing the Word of God. This form of cross was later adopted by St. Francis and used to sign his writings.
The Chi Rho is one of the earliest forms of Christogram (a monogram or letters that forms an abbreviation for the name of Jesus Christ). It is formed by superimposing the first two letters of the Greek word for Kristos/Christ – ΧΡΙΣΤΟΣ (Chi and Rho, X and P).
Each bead is hand wrapped with tarnish resistant silver plated wire using the traditional wire wrapping technique.
This technique involves passing a length of wire through the bead and wrapping it back around itself on each side of the bead to form a loop at each end. The next wire is passed through this loop before wrapping it around a bead. This method ensures there is no opening or weak link in the loops to allow the rosary to come apart. It is the most secure method of rosary making.
Your Rosary will arrive wrapped in layers of tissue paper in a beautiful gift box. You will also receive an organza bag to protect your rosary while carrying it and a information booklet giving the history of the rosary and how to use your rosary beads.
If this Rosary is a gift for a special occasion and you would like to receive a free prayer card for that occasion, please leave a message during checkout.
